The water that flows into your home comes from either surface water supply or a well dug into the ground. Either source will provide opportunity for contaminants to enter the water supply. You wash your dishes with this water. You wash yourself with this water. You drink this water.
Maybe you have noticed that lately that the taste of your water is off, or that it has an undesirable smell. This could be an indicator of something being present that you do not want to be. You may need some water testing at your Eagan or nearby home. Who knows what you are putting on or in your body when that water just does not have the clarity that it should?
If you are concerned about contaminants that may be present in your water, as many people are, you can have some peace of mind by having your water tested. Leaving your water unchecked is an open invite to problems like gastrointestinal issues, or other problems. Should any newborns be on the horizon or present, they offer additional reasons to have water testing conducted.
Your local water treatment dealer will test hardness, iron, pH, and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS). Water testing takes minutes with an EPA approved testing kit. Hard water is present in 85% of homes in the US so chances are that your water is hard. The water treatment representative will bring along a small water softener that will make soft water for a visual comparison of the benefits of soft water. And will then make recommendations based upon the results of the different tests. Other testing may be needed arsenic, fluoride, lead, nitrate, etc.; these are tests that are sent to a health department certified laboratory for analysis. Other tests are available as well, so it is up to you if you wish to pursue them.
Once testing is complete, you will have the option of having a water treatment system installed in your home. Your water treatment professional will have several models of treatment in stock, and can generally have a system installed within a few days.
The world we live in no longer allows us to take things for granted. Our health, especially as it relates to what we put into our bodies as per fluid consumption, calls for special attention to be paid to the very simple, easily accessed municipal or well-based drinking water that we drink.
