Please note that the provided buyout amount is an initial estimate and may change. This amount should not be regarded as a final or guaranteed figure. Haferman Water Conditioning, Inc. is not committed to this preliminary estimate and assumes no responsibility for any discrepancies between this estimate and the final buyout amount. A formal calculation will be provided once you are ready to proceed with the buyout and all relevant factors have been thoroughly evaluated.
Things to Consider Before Buying Out:
- Only For Leases with a Purchase Option: The buyout option is only available for equipment that is being leased with a purchase option. A buyout is NOT available for equipment that is being rented without a purchase option. If you are unsure if you are renting or leasing, please call our office to confirm whether you are renting or leasing the equipment.
- Accuracy of Data: Ensure the accuracy of your entered data. Incorrect information can lead to an inaccurate buyout estimate. A separate buyout calculation is required for each major piece of rented equipment. For instance, if you have both a water softener and a reverse osmosis (RO) drinking water system, you will need to calculate the buyout for each unit individually.
- Original Lease Paperwork: If you don’t have your original lease paperwork, please contact our office to obtain details about your first month of rent, rental amount, and original purchase price.
- Final Buyout Amount: For the exact buyout amount, please call our office when you’re ready to proceed with your buyout. The buyout amount changes each month as additional rent payments are made.
- Account Balance: Any past due account balances will be added to your buyout amount.
- Tax Implications: Tax paid on the rental is not credited back, and you will be taxed on the buyout sale of the unit. The tax amount may vary slightly depending on the specific county or city tax rates.
- Leases Over 120 Months Old: If you have been leasing the equipment for more than 120 months, the minimum flat dollar buyout amount (plus tax) on your original lease paperwork will apply to each main piece of rented equipment.
- Maintenance and Repairs: After you buy out the equipment, repairs for owned units will be out of pocket and no longer covered by Haferman Water. The standard service fee for regular maintenance on owned units is $144 plus parts and labor, up from $45 plus parts and labor for being a rental member.
